Episode 10- Internet A-Holes

Jeff asks today why people are so pissy online... Lani had to do a couple of takes because she kept cussing too flagrantly and Poppy wore a wife beater top. What more do you need to know?

As Tom Hanks once pointed out in a movie I won't admit to watching, the ability to say exactly what you want to say when you want to say it often is overrated because you feel like such an ass after the point.

I'm in full agreement about the shield concept. Anonymity makes people incredibly brave. Relative anonymity (name but no actual person behind) does the same.

Wow ... that's way too bloody deep after 40 ounces of beer.

since i'm a loser and still at work, i'll go ahead and add more content to the world wide facebooks:

i've met many of these internet meatheads at various events, such as developer conferences, linux meetups, start-up launch parties blah blah blah...and, they are always very meek compared to their online selves. this is precisely due to the fact that it's IRL and they will get all three of their asses kicked when they start shooting their mouth off. it's a joy to behold.

i mean, empowerment is great, but bullying is not.

dr. seuss said it best: "be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

with the caveat: "don't be a dickwad."

It's like one giant role playing game for so many ill-fated nerds out there, isn't it? The not so ill-fated make positive construction out of the internet medium, generating useful tools ssuch as blogger and twitter, just to list a couple. The ill-fated are swallowed into a cruel abyss built of their own self deprication, lacking the creativity to escape they trail off on a train of halucinatory fantasia. This of course causes one to grow imbittered and therefor fling their cyber-poop at all the unsuspecting people which they come across. I for one don't like it one bit, but still find great humor in the delusions of others. I guess that's my 'glass is half full' way of being, no?

I do believe that's the first time someone has said I have a beautiful surname...

What amazed me is that you both pronounced it correctly. You can imagine all the different variations I've heard throughout my lifetime.

Anyway, thanks for answering my question. Keep up the good work!
